Boxout.fm make it their business to show the talent of India’s music underground. Since its radio station launch in 2016, they’ve seen collabs with everyone from The British Council to Levi’s, and are the people behind Box Out Wednesdays, India’s longest-running midweek club night. This is Sijya’s first original music release. It was with an Indian Norwegian producer, a DJ based out of Oslo. It’s in the first compilation that we decided to put out during the pandemic.

We released this pre pandemic from a producer & beatmaker, Salty Prawn…a very unique name! He’s somebody from the internet, not someone that I’ve ever met. His stripped back sound kind of caught my attention while everyone else was making extremely loud music.
Lucky - MadStarBase, Killa P
This track is by UK Grime artist Killa P, we were lucky to have him make it into India and get out of India because it all happened during that one week of the world shutting down - so this is special. Here, Killa P walks us through his life experience and gives thanks.
Dnkle - Without You All Music And Art Is Distorted
Another of those cinematic downtempo tracks. While the whole world was sending uptempo music, Without You told people, we don’t want to put out hard music. We want to put out music that you can chill to.
Merak, David Marston, MadStarBase - Up High
One of my favorite tracks to wake up to. Whatever you need, Up High takes you there. It’s a little Indian reggae daytime track that I think everybody should check out.
DejaVilla - All Dem Deh
This is a tribute to a hip hop anthem from the two thousands. It kind of hints to a special time in hip hop and reggae and dancehall.
Merak, David Marston - Multicolor Dreams
MadStarBase are a Goan brother and sister duo, and in this one I think you can hear it. I have a reggae background, so to tap into the reggae, the dub, the remix, the rhythms, is special. This track is so good.
David Marston, MadStarBase - Element
All the tracks are chill but this is a little bit more uptempo. It’s a 2024 release which pays tribute to Garage Music.
Noni-Mouse - 2 big
Noni-Mouse is Bombay based, and has now moved to London. This has a UKG two-Step feel, and a great sample. It should wrap up this playlist leaving you wanting more.
