Chai Maker Stainless Steel Strainer

I love chai tea, but hated making it myself as I always seemed to walked away for 10 seconds and the pot boiled over. I got so frustrated that I started searching for a pot specifically made to make chai tea and came across Loka. I saw that it had just finished being a kickstarter and was now for sale on their website. Got the chai maker three weeks ago and I am making chai most every morning without any boil overs. If you love chai tea and want to make your own, this is the thing to purchase. Its construction is outstanding, very solid, and easy to use and clean. Five stars!!!!!

Ok, I was a bit hesitant due to the price. But given the innovation this company and the engineers have put into this chai makers, i went for it! And boy am i glad i did! It looks and feel premium and does exactly what it says — no boil overs and a beautiful chai fountain. I gifted this to my sister who loves the no additional strainer requirement to pour the chai the most. It does require a bit extra love and care for cleaning as there are a few pieces involved, but it's satisfying to make chai in this! Love this. I might get one for myself!

I started making chai at home sometime around the pandemic and since then have made it countless times, experimenting quite a lot with the recipe. It's never come out quite as good as the chai I had in India but it's good enough for friends to request it whenever they're over. All that practice doesn't mean you don't make mistakes though. A few times a year, I'll try to do too much at once and end up letting the chai boil over and it's always a nightmare to clean on our electric stove. I've made chai 4-5 times with this chai maker now and think it's got some definite upsides. I can get it started and go to get food ready or use the bathroom without worrying. It's easy to clean with the ceramic coating. It also disassembles well so you can clean the rubber gasket and the rim.

Not everything about it is perfect though. I wish the capacity were bigger so I could use it when guests come over, but it's fine day to day for 2 people. I'd like to be able to buy additional strainers so I can make chai everyday, since they get very dirty each time and it's easiest to put them through the dishwasher. It would also be nice if there was a whistling sound or some way to know when the fountain has started so I could be more consistent with how long I let it boil. All in all, I think the chai is better when I make it in a normal pot, but this chai maker gets you most of the way there and avoids the most annoying parts.
